Lotic is unapologetic on snarling and experimental new cut “Cocky”

We last heard from Texan producer Lotic in May when she dropped “Burn A Print”, her first for Houndstooth. It’s been quiet for a little bit, but today she makes an unstuttering return with a new slammer called “Cocky”. She says:

“‘Cocky’ is a song for the girls. It’s a reminder to always recognize and demand your worth. it grants permission to radically stand in your truth, even when it may shock or offend. and most of all, it’s a celebration of growth, prosperity, and confidence.”

While “Cocky” fully embodies confidence and a domineering presence, it doesn’t do it through volume or impactful beats as you might expect. Instead, Lotic does it in her own idiosyncratic ways, with rattling percussion and shape-shifting metallic whirrs providing an unsettling backbone to her own vocal posturing. She is equally unpredictable in her singing, flitting between a snarling unimpressed tone and a more ethereal voice that melds into the churning beats in a breathtaking and unsettling manner. Lotic has produced another song that sounds unlike anyone else – she has every right to feel “Cocky”.

Again we’re being promised more to come from Lotic in the near future, so make sure to follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
