Ashley Shadow pays tribute to her friends and family’s resolve in “For Love”

Vancouver songwriter Ashley Shadow has returned with her first new material since her 2016 self-titled album. The new single is called “For Love” and finds Ashley reflecting on difficult decisions she’s witnessed. She says:

“Over the past couple years, I bore witness to friends and family going through big shifts in their lives that brought on some tough endings and new beginnings. “For Love” is a song that commemorates the action of leaving something you love for something you love more.”

“For Love” begins with Ashley in quiet contemplation, but quickly expands with the whims of her roving guitar and bold voice. As she witnesses the difficulties her friends and family go through – financially, philosophically – she simultaneously acknowledges their determination and the purity of their purpose; “you did it for love / not just anything.” With this simple but powerful message as the foundation, Ashley channels these people’s strength into the song, and “For Love” grows into a quiet torrent of pride and passion.
