Vera Bloom finds strength in herself on “It’s Me”

Vera Bloom hails from Cobain Country but now lives in Nashville. She describes her music as having “an attitude-laden snarl, guitar slung low and no fucks given” – a perfect description of her new EP It’s Me.

Bloom says: “It’s Me is the end of a chapter in my life and the beginning of a new one. I grew, I picked myself up in darker times, and I learned to love and embrace myself for who I am. These songs healed me when I needed healing and I hope the listener can find something for themselves, too!”

On the title track, Bloom’s blistering guitar work and powerful vocals feel like a thrill ride through the best of The Ramones and Stooges. She’s clearly a guitar ace, as demonstrated not just on “It’s Me” but throughout the new EP.

Bloom is also a first-rate songwriter. One of the EP’s highlights is “Serenity”, a riff-driven gem that feels like a Liz Phair song, only grittier.

The world has been clamoring for the next Joan Jett, and our prayers have been answered with the arrival of Vera Bloom.
