Caroline Polachek shares the crunchy “Starburned and Unkissed”

Caroline Polachek has released a new song called “Starburned and Unkissed”, her contribution to the new A24 movie I Saw The TV Glow.

The song was co-produced and co-written with A.G. Cook, who brings a warped and crunchy guitar backing to the affair. It flips from spaced out lunacy in the verses to blown-out riffing in the choruses, matching the significant vocal shifts in Polachek’s voice that we’ve come to know and love. Lyrically, it finds her emotionally strung out, “distorted to the bone”, “deep fried” and expressing cosmic yearning for someone to come home. “The kettle’s whistling” she wails – all she wants is an uncomplicated domestic life, but she’s got a hella dramatic way of showing it.

The stacked I Saw The TV Glow soundtrack album arrives on 10 May (pre-save).
