Screaming Females deliver thunderous unity on “Brass Bell”, announce new album

New Jersey heroes Screaming Females have revealed plans for a new album called Desire Pathway arriving on February 17 through Don Giovanni. They have shared album opener “Brass Bell” with vocalist and guitarist Marissa Paternoster saying:

“”Brass Bell” is a song about surrendering your autonomy to something so overwhelmingly powerful you willingly relinquish your ambitions and self-worth. My intention was to draw an interesting dichotomy between the muscular nature of the song and the rather bleak, worried lyrics.”

While the lyrics of “Brass Bell” find Paternoster concerned by the overwhelming nature of being swept up in a united tide, Screaming Females’ rock assault is determined and surefire, showing just how powerful they can be when working as a three-pronged attack. The track opens with a bubbling synth cauldron, out of which the trio deliver massive Sabbath-esque riffage and their standard shout-along hooks. “I’m living in a brass bell / It’s too loud”, Paternoster wails in the enormous chorus – but nobody will be making that same complaint when they see the trio perform this one live.
