Irreversible Entanglements open a roadmap of lamentations on “Lágrimas Del Mar”

Improvisation and activism go hand-in-hand for trailblazing US-based jazz quintet Irreversible Entanglements, an alliance forged between Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother), Keir Neuringer, Aquiles Navarro, Luke Stewart, and Tcheser Holmes. Their combined creative powers – fearless, restless, and incandescent – summon a force strong enough to imagine new actualities, forming aural roots and weeds that invade the cracks of the world’s most oppressive structures.

Irreversible Entanglements’ new track “Lágrimas Del Mar” offers a more freeform, searching side of their vocabulary than the taut grooves of “Open The Gates”, the title track of the group’s forthcoming album, which is coming out via Don Giovanni and International Anthem on November 12th. Navigating the track’s shifty, serpentine pulse like an intricate roadmap, Navarro and Neuringer’s brass instruments bellow out to each other as if sending transmissions from the furthest of regions. Ayewa’s meditative words resonate like intimate diary entries from various individuals mired within the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Take a listen to “Lágrimas Del Mar” below.

Additionally to releasing Open The Gates on November 12, Irreversible Entanglements have announced a tour through Europe in the Fall. The dates can be found below. You can preorder Open The Gates here and find Irreversible Entanglements on Facebook and Instagram.
