Princess Chelsea enthrals in the hereafter on “Forever Is A Charm”

In the video for her beguiling single “Forever Is A Charm” we find Princess Chelsea wandering inside a big mansion (Auckland’s historic Civic Theatre) looking like Audrey Horne dressed as a Disney Queen. In this pristine setting, you can immediately tell something’s a bit off: Chelsea’s bewitched glance inquisitively inspects the empty surroundings, which start to warp and contort like psychedelic visions.

“Forever Is A Charm” masquerades as a love song, triggering the question, if you were immortal, would you give that up for true love? As the song’s mantra (“Forever is a charm and it’s never getting better, it’s nothing like the words that you wrote in your letter.”) gets repeated, however, you get the sense that the song’s protagonist clandestinely opts for the what if’s and has been’s over a life in solitude.

The song offers a glimpse of Princess Chelsea’s forthcoming “nervous breakdown album” Everything is Going to be Alright, which comes out on October 8th, via Lil’ Chief Records. Preorder the album here.
