Lady Gaga ends relationship with Target over absence of support for gay rights

Lady Gaga, the pop singer known for her bizarre performances and highly eccentric getups, has freshly cancelled an agreement for the exclusive release of her new album with the retailer Target due to of the absence of their support for gay rights.

In the past, Target has given a 150,000 dollar corporate donation to MN Forward, a lobby group which supported candidate Tom Emmer, a same-sex marriage opponent, in his 2010 run for Minnesota governor.

“Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past … our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those [antigay] groups.” Gaga told Billboard.

Though Target did support same sex marriage advocate Project 515, a spokesperson for the company did not ensure the continual support of the cause, and in doing so, lost the support of the Lady herself.

“Throughout this whole process, [Gaga] has remained true to her audience. I think she’s a person of great integrity, and I think people will recognize that,” explained publicist Bob Witeck to a source.

Good for you Lady Gaga; being a great role model by creating a solid moral foundation. It’s nice to see you’re committed to your beliefs. Too bad we can’t say the same about the color of your hair.
