Bristol duo Mumble Tide deliver the sauntering and sweet “Love Thing”

Mumble Tide are the Bristol-based duo of Gina Leonard and Ryan Rogers, who have an EP called Love Thing coming out on November 13. Today, they’ve shared the delightful title track, with Gina saying:

“We had tried a bunch of different versions of it in the studio when we were still figuring out our sound but nothing was really sticking. In the end we took it back to my folks in Cambridge and spent a week working in it and everything clicked into place. It’s pretty sweet and hopefully one to lift your spirits. Our label buddy Benjamin Woods (The Golden Dregs) kindly laid down his tasty beats for us.”

Dreamy indie-pop is in no short supply in the current musical landscape, but when something hits all the right buttons, it’s hard not to sit up and take notice. Mumble Tide do exactly that on “Love Thing”, combining swaying guitars with a luminescent synth line and a tale of adorable bashfulness. We find Gina in a state of loved-up confusion, lost in memories of the object of her affections, wanting to make a move but admitting “you should know I’m no good at this love thing.” The musical backing makes her furtive desires seem all the warmer and more appealing, and in tandem we have an utterly charming missive from deep inside a world of innocence and beautiful possibility – a place we’d all wish to spend more time.

Mumble Tide’s Love Thing EP will be released on November 13 through Nothing Fancy; pre-order from their Bandcamp. You can follow the band on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
