Babeheaven interrogate modern behaviour on the assured “Human Nature”

London’s Babeheaven are back with their first new music of 2020, a song called “Human Nature” that stimulates both the mind and body in all the right ways. They introduce the song by saying:

“Human Nature is about the relationship between our inward and outward selves. It’s about the performance we do online, where everything exists in a sort of grey area. We thought that social media would lead to individualism but a new human nature is exciting in an other worldly state. It’s about losing touch with yourself and not transmitting emotions.”

Combining drum machines and subtly dark synths in a way that is reminiscent of classic Massive Attack, Babeheaven create the perfect canvas for this introspective and daring song. As “Human Nature” shifts into its elegiac chorus, they pull back the layers until it’s just swirling synths surrounding the crucial thought: “you make it easy for me to trust / but I don’t know what’s in your nature.” Babeheaven then kick on again, their active minds audibly whirring around this sticky topic, while the production continues to deepen, drawing you into this immersive mind puzzle.
