Moonchild Sanelly has well and truly landed with her latest album, Full Moon, out now via Transgressive. The South African says her third full-length “is me, lit up in my entirety. The arrival of my whole self. It’s the arrival”, and you can’t deny that’s the case when these 12 pulsating, electro-afro-pop productions zing between your ears.
Moonchild is a spright at the centre of it all, rapping, singing, flirting her way across the album. Her sexual prowess and physical assets are proudly and unguardedly flaunted across the record, but she knows her worth transcends the lascivious – she’s both determined to “fuck up the world” and ensure she’s “paid, bitch”.
We could all use this kind of confidence in ourselves, so we asked Moonchild to put together a playlist for us to tune us into the kind of mindset that she carries day to day, night to night as an unapologetic self-expressive star. She hasn’t disappointed, providing us with 16 tracks from some of the most fearsome, flamboyant and unstoppable names currently illuminating modern music – including a couple of her own, of course.
She says: “These are songs that get me in the mood for a girls night out, I generally listen to everyone I want to work with in the future, call it manifestation.”
