Watch: Radkey – “Cat & Mouse”

Radkey

Punk rock trio Radkey — consisting of brothers Dee, Isaiah, and Solomon Radke — burned through SXSW this year, resulting in a feature in The New York Times’ ArtsBeat section and scores of people paying attention to these young rockers.  Having cut their teeth playing in their hometown of St. Joseph, MO, the band then started playing shows in Kansas City, where they gained a larger, more dedicated fanbase.  In the lead-up to the release of their debut EP, Cat & Mouse (out now via Wreckroom Records), the three brothers crisscrossed the US and Europe at a number of festivals and solo shows.

Now, the band has released the video for the title track to their EP.  “Cat & Mouse” is a searing chug of punk squall, with forceful vocals and jackhammer percussion riding along side Dee’s streaks of colossal riffage.  The video, directed by Damien Paris, finds the band trying to shatter eardrums and blow amps in a small studio.  Reminiscent of 70’s punk progenitors Death, Radkey are showing what can be accomplished by brothers with a communal love of music and just a guitar, a bass, and a set of drums.  Watch the ferocious video for “Cat & Mouse” below.  And also make sure to check out their upcoming tour dates below the video.
