Miynt rides towards a desolate horizon on “Station station”

Stockholm-based artist Miynt bookends 2021 with another beguiling track. “Station station” drifts into a more minimalist route than the gloomy psych-disco of “A bite of papaya”. Over a barren dustbowl guitar lick, she sings “Don’t wake me up / I love this dream / Forever young and free.” The song carries a Bohemian, The Doors-like aura, lost and at peace, as elegant feedback swells languidly enwrap the song into a dazed stupor. The song dissolves like a sand structure in the desert wind.

The lyric video juxtaposes the song’s roadworn quality with images of large canyons and empty highways, inciting utopian Easy Rider-like fantasies of living through the motions and off the grid. “Station station” invokes dreams of a much simpler existence, of shedding oneself of excess, and giving “a little love” to wherever life takes you.
