“Lonely Beach”, the title track of MIYNT’s upcoming debut LP, narrates an oceanside rendezvous

Swedish artist and producer Miynt has caught ears far and wide in recent years with her inverted take on a seventies-inspired tunes, happily adrift between bigger mainstream-friendly melodies and the more psychedelic spheres. She recently announced her debut album Lonely Beach with “Of the sun”, a swaggering slice of ABBA-inspired pop, pulling the maximalism of her iconic fellow countrymen and women to murkier, mistier sceneries.

Today she unveils the album’s title track, which seems to capture an oceanside scene at the magical break of dawn, a setting of tranquil comedown from all the sparkle and noise. Through her zephyr-like voice, Miynt alludes to those first maladroit steps of entering a deeper connection between the song’s protagonist and a stranger; two searching individuals who seem to have crossed paths for the very first time. She then turns inward on the track’s main hook: “Waiting for somebody that I’ve never been.”

On the track, Miynt comments “Lonely beach is kind of a metaphor for periods of my life. At times there’s a lot of friends and tourism at the beach, but the beach never leaves the beach. Leonardo DiCaprio never finds the beach. Life is a beach.”
