Loraine James announces album as ambient-techno alter ego Whatever The Weather, shares “17°C”

Loraine James landed on our Top 50 Albums of 2021 with her excellent LP Reflection and she’ll follow it up this year – in a manner of speaking. Working under the alias Whatever The Weather, James has announced a self-titled album for release on April 8 through Ghostly.

The project is an outlet for her more ambient-adjacent interests, and the album boasts mastering from similarly minded music makers Telefon Tel Aviv. The tracks are named in temperatures, emphasising the moodiness and changeability of tone and texture.

The first song to be shared is “17°C”, which maintains a lot of the technical production chops we know her for, but also a more potent level of atmosphere that asks you to drift with it.

Whatever The Weather comes out on April 8 through Ghostly (pre-order/save).
