True, heartfelt optimism – at least of the sort that doesn’t feel cloying – is in short supply these days. If you’re in need of a little dose of happiness (or even stability) look no further than Evalyn. Her new EP, the appropriately titled, I Love You, Keep Going (Pt. 1), while perhaps not all sunshine, is certainly entirely good-willed and heartfelt.
As if to prove it, her latest single, “All We Have”, ranks among her most immediate ballads to date. It’s as reflective as it is deceptively starry-eyed. Indeed, she may be singing, “This is all we have,” without regret, as if to a lover whom fulfills her entirely, yet the song is in reality more an ode to staying present, to appreciating what one actually has.
Speaking on its creation, Evalyn shares, “I was having frequent panic attacks and anxiety and I came to the studio and told Antonio (producer Sweater Beats) about it. I wasn’t feeling great that day and we just ended up making this mantra – this is all we have. It turned out to be one of my favorite songs on the entire project.“
