Bluphoria bring 60s flash to “Ain’t Got Me”

Indie rock quartet Bluphoria’s self-titled debut album abounds with strong singles like “Ain’t Got Me”, which combines a Beatles-esque melody with Hendrix guitar flourishes.

Like Jimi, the group hails from the Pacific Northwest (Eugene, Oregon), but now is based in Nashville. The group worked with Grammy-winning producer Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons) on this impressive 11-song collection, which was released earlier this month.

Regarding “Ain’t Got Me”, frontman/guitarist Reign LaFreniere says, “I wanted to write a song that was very nostalgic and mirrored a classic rock song, and while fiddling on my guitar I came across these chords. I had so many different versions of this song come through, but I just never could shake the original verse and chorus I had written for it.”

Rock’s market share has been steadily declining compared to rap and country, but bands like Bluphoria have the talent to fuel a rock renaissance.
