Blanketman grasp for the lost British summer on the ripping “Beach Body”

Rising Manchester band Blanketman released their hyped debut single “Taking You With Me” earlier this year, and have since been stuck on the same hurdle as everyone else: the pandemic. However, they have now produced a follow up, with the cheeky brilliance of “Beach Body”.

Vocalist Adam Hopper says: “After a troubled lost summer, we felt we needed a new advert for British exceptionalism and the Brit abroad.”

Blanketman take a direct approach on “Beach Body”, with gung-ho guitars rattling along under Hopper’s disaffected observations. He perfectly characterises the kind of person who lives for their time on the beach, showing off to his imagined admirers and mostly just bigging himself up as a star in the making. Blanketman’s breathless racket gives “Beach Body” an effectively unhinged undertone, and it’s hard not to find the whole package utterly infectious.
