Cologne, Germany-based electronic label Kompakt is best known for putting out records inhabiting the genres of microhouse and minimalist techno, including their ongoing Total compilation series. Founded and operated by musician Wolfgang Voigt (along with Michael Mayer and Jurgen Paape), the label has been the home of such electronic luminaries as The Orb, The Field, and Thomas Fehlmann. The label has paired up with Berlin-based music software company Ableton to open up a temporary pop-up store there at Ableton’s office (which will mark the first time the company has opened its doors to the public).
The store will open on Saturday, August 31st and close its doors on September 7th, ending with an anniversary party at Berghain/Panorama. The store opening will feature a rare musical discussion between Wolfgang Voigt and Gerhard Behles (co-founder Ableton), with author Tobias Rapp (Lost And Sound: Berlin, Techno und der Easyjets) functioning as the moderator.
There will be various events, lectures and musical workshops onsite featuring Ableton Live 9 and Push, offering people the chance to have a hands-on demo of the program. There will also be DJ sets and performances from Kompakt artists, with a few being streamed live for those not Berlin-bound. You can check out the full schedule here.
