We’ve already heard two very good cuts from Chelsea Wolfe’s upcoming album, but she’s unleashed another one – and it’s quite easily her best one yet. “The Waves Have Come” is as epic as that doomsday title suggests, sprawling over eight minutes, going from piano balladry to a full on onslaught with pummelling drums, while keeping itself seeped in an 80’s nostalgic feel. Wolfe never looses her cool or goes off the edges, but rather she draws out everything great she’s been trying to channel over her past albums: drama, enveloping melodies, and a swallowing hopeless darkness. It’s a treat in itself, but it makes Pain is Beauty a very sought after album. Look out for it on September 3rd on Sargent House, and listen to “The Waves Have Come” below.
