Over the course of touring in support of their 2010 sophomore album Disconnect From Desire, School of Seven Bells lost a member, Alejandra Deheza’s sister Claudia. This hasn’t slowed down the band’s productivity however, as the band have today announced the release of their new album Ghostory.
Alejandra Deheza and Benjamin Curtis recorded the album in New York between tours, and we are told that Ghostory “exemplifies a fervent progression ofSchool of Seven Bells’ growth as artists, preserving the common themes found on their last two releases but exposing them in different fashions.” Curtis claims that this is the most “collaborative” and “spontaneous” album they’ve recorded.
Ghostory is also a sort of concept album about a girl named Lafaye and the ghosts that surround her life. Alejandra explains ““Everyone has ghosts. They’re every love you’ve ever had, every hurt, every betrayal, every heartbreak. They follow you, stay with you.”
Ghostory will come out through Vagrant/Ghostly International on February 28th 2012. The full track list has not yet been revealed, but track titles include “Love Play,” “Show Me Love,” “Lafaye,” and “Scavenger.”
