While Portishead remain inconsistent in their flow of new music and frustratingly quiet about it too, Geoff Barrow’s other band Beak> are continually producing new musical nuggets to bite into. Today’s offering is a cover of the Pink Floyd favourite “Welcome To The Machine.” The song was recorded for Mojo Magazine’s new Pink Floyd issue, and finds its way onto the net via Passion of the Weiss.
Beak> have got their regular motorik-drums and kraut groove on this. The vocals in the Wish You Were Here original were quite robotic, but compared to Beak>’s version they sound downright soulful. Check out the cover below.
