2011: the year of too many Buddy Holly tribute albums and a questionable amount of Tokyo Police Club covers. But today’s track strikes a chord with me, as it’s a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s 2007 jam “All My Friends.” I actually don’t mind Tokyo Police Club, I even think they get a bad rap at times, so when they cover my favorite band I certainly take notice. The result’s not too shabby, as Tokyo Police Club do a fair job of replicating of the song, not straying too far from the original. But let’s face it, nobody can match James Murphy’s vocals.
