Fiona Grey and Celeste Tauchar (aka talker) are pop artists in their own right, but come together as Desperate Hauswives to pay musical homage to Desperate Housewives, the iconic American TV dramedy from the 2000s.
“The Ballad Of Edie Britt” is as brash and unapologetic as the character they sing about. Edie was the hot neighbor on Wisteria Lane who didn’t mind ruffling feathers and breaking rules. (Fun fact: The character was played by Nicollette Sheridan, who lived in England until age 10 and had a famous stepdad: Telly Savalas, TV’s “Kojak”.)
Desperate Hauswives say: “This song is a call to all the messy, untraditional women in the world to be their truest selves, regardless of what people may think.”
America in 2025 feels spookily like the fictional Wisteria Lane from 20 years ago, as chronicled on the duo’s previous songs like “Another Dead Husband” and “Hot For Mike”. That explains why Desperate Hauswives have a cult following in LA that even includes some of the members of the TV show’s cast.
