The biggest problem with Spotify is that it contains thousands of good songs that often divert us from the masterpieces. One such masterpiece is the new collab from LA artists Fiona Grey and kate the dreamer entitled โA World Away (Beer Drunk Glory Days)โ.
The verse melody has a gorgeous, gossamer quality that builds slowly and beautifully to a cathartic conclusion. The song has a dreamlike connection to Fionaโs previous single โBeer Drunk Glory Daysโ โ and itโs a showcase for two of the best singers in the world today. No offense to Gracie Abrams or Billie Eilish, but these vocals are in a league of their own.
โโA World Awayโ was written as an alternate version of my song โBeer Drunk Glory Daysโ,โ says Grey. โThe song honors the intimacy of female friendships and the ways the people you hold closest to you can help you through heartbreak. I love how the alternate version has taken a life of its own as a complete reimagining. Writing it was really cathartic.โ
Iโm not a voting member of the Recording Academy, but if I were, โA World Awayโ would get my Grammy vote for Song of the Year.
