Miya Folick has shared a new single — the hopeful ballad “This Time Around”. It follows a previous triptych of singles for her upcoming album, Erotica Veronica: “Erotica“, “La Da Da“, and “Alaska“. This new one allows Folick to peer inward, finding hope and beauty as a soundtrack of tumbling indie rock illumination cascades alongside her atmospheric voice. It’s a stunner, especially later on when Meg Duffy rips through some truly affecting guitar solos. It makes me wonder whether boygenius needs one more member?
“Kate [Davis] and I wrote this in Brooklyn on the floor,” Folick shared to her Instagram page. “Just two guitars and a voice memo. I’ll share the demo eventually. We recorded this version in LA with the best band and engineer. I cried when I heard the final mix. I was walking along the beach in California but got so hyped I had to run. Sad songs do that to me. (warning: Meg’s [Duffy] solos are so heartbreaking it’s unbearable.) Whatever kind of holiday season you’re having, I hope this brings you some comfort. The song is meant to be hopeful.“
