British celestial folk songwriter Jeremy Tuplin has announced that he has a new record, Violet Waves, set to be released on Trapped Animal Records in the near future. Today he’s shared the lead single, “Space Magic”, about which he says:
“The song is about finding the fascinating in the everyday. I guess I use the term ‘magic’ loosely in a scientific way, and mostly focus on the very grandiose ‘Space Magic’, but through nature and anything from planet formation to the human mind, your neighbour’s overhanging wild rose or that piece of toast you’re eating for breakfast, it’s all pretty magical”.
Often we find ourselves naturally adopting cynical points of view, forgetting that there is wonder in literally everything around us, but Jeremy Tuplin’s “Space Magic” is the sound of that childlike, blissful wonderment condensed into three minutes of gorgeous interstellar folk. The intertwining lilt of the guitars introduces this weightless state of mind, and Tuplin’s casually toned voice perfectly captures the simplicity of flicking the mental switch and seeing the world with a little bit of a rose tint. As “Space Magic” continues its graceful ascent, Tuplin sprinkles in flute, chimes and a scorching guitar solo, giving the whole song a truly otherworldly feel. After hearing this, we might just believe in “Space Magic” too.
