Underworld announced as directors of music for London Olympics’ opening ceremony

Coming on top of news that Elbow would act as composers for an Olympic promo song, Underworld has been announced as musical directors for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London games. Is this going to be the best music ever at an Olympics? Possibly.

A press release reveals that the duo of Underworld, Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, will work alongside Danny Boyle, artistic director of the ceremony, to create three hours of music to soundtrack the complete opening ceremony, taking place on July 27th of next year.
