The New Pornographers are not a band associated with political videos or social anthems, mostly because the power-pop gems that A.C. Newman pens generally conceal their meaning far below the surface. Thus, the new video for “Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk” may seem a little out of left field, but the lyrics turn out to be a perfect fit. Warning: you will have to endure some mildly-painful banter before the video.
The video is to raise awareness for OXFAM, who continues their effort to cleanup the gulf after a series of tragedies. If you can’t help physically or monetarily, something as simple as sharing this video might help.
