Spoon return with the fiery “The Hardest Cut” and new album plans

After an abnormally long absense, Spoon have finally announced a new album. Already a frontrunner for best album title of 2022, Lucifer on the Sofa will arrive on February 11 through Matador. It  was co-produced by Spoon and Mark Rankin (Adele, Queens of the Stone Age) and features contributions from Dave Fridmann and Justin Raisen.

They’ve also shared the lead single “The Hardest Cut”, with Britt Daniel simply saying “I spent a lot of 2018 and 2019 listening to ZZ Top.”

You can certainly hear that classic rock scorch combined with Spoon’s usual art rock flair in “The Hardest Cut”. Once again, Spoon are challenging themselves while staying true to their pop instincts.

Spoon’s new album Lucifer on the Sofa comes out on February 11 (pre-order/save). You can find the band on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
