Ships Have Sailed share an uplifting story on “Find My Way”

In pop music, it’s rare for artists to chronicle a friend’s story, not their own. But that’s exactly what California duo Ships Have Sailed have done on their heartfelt new single “Find My Way”.

Ships Have Sailed consists of vocalist/guitarist Will Carpenter and drummer Art Andranikyan. Working with producer Dan Sadin (Joy Oladokun, talker), “Find My Way” has the timeless feel of ’60s Simon & Garfunkel and even the current country-pop duo Dan + Shay.

Says Carpenter: “It all started when a friend in the UK asked if I would help her write a song based on a very personal story she wanted to tell. She and her husband married fairly young and went through the typical hurdles of marriage and parenthood, but realized they needed something big to look forward to that would get them through the tough times. This dream became a meticulously planned road trip across America. They both quit their jobs and headed across the Atlantic. It was epic trip. Sadly, my friend lost her husband suddenly a very short time after their return. Despite this, the song is not a sad one. It’s a note of gratitude that these memories were able to be made before her profound loss.”

Like the best work of Dan Fogelberg and Paul Simon, the soaring chorus in “Find My Way” will resonate with you for a long time.
