Ships Have Sailed brilliantly reprise “Ages” on new live album

Ships Have Sailed are a California duo whose new version of their song “Ages” is one of the many highlights on their new album Live From Ojai, out today.

Ojai is a small community east of Santa Barbara, California that was once the home of
spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti. It’s also home to music producer Dan Sadin, who
has worked with artists like MØ and talker. During the pandemic, Ships Have Sailed
(with help from talker) recorded a livestream from Sadin’s studio, then did a little more
mixing and mastering to finalize the 11 tracks on the album.

Says frontman Will Carpenter: “This body of work turned out more special than we could
have anticipated. We retreated up to Ojai, which is a pretty magical place in general, and
dug into three solid days of rehearsal with Dan Sadin and Celeste Tauchar (aka talker)
who both joined us in creating the album. Spending dedicated time in the studio with
good friends, just making music live in a room felt incredible and energizing after what
had been a grueling quarantine, and seemed to bring out a certain special quality in the
performance.”

The live album covers a lot of stylistic ground, from the haunting ballad “Ages” to
“Faithless” – a song that has the bravado and vocal flair of The 1975.
