Seoul-based DIY newcomer Su Lee makes an impression with “Wide Awake” and its video

Seoul-based artist Su Lee takes bedroom pop to new levels: that is she takes it rather literally. Living and working in a 10′ x 10′ box room, she uses the same space to both survive and create. Within that tiny little room she’s created a textured world all her own, one she’s chosen to share with all of us.

Building upon the hype of her debut singles, she’s returned with her latest offering, “Wide Awake”. She’s also beyond DIY: she writes, composes, produces, designs, and directs all her own content. Phew.

“Wide Awake” is a piano-driven indie ballad, with Lee’s soft voice and gentle drumbeats propelling what could be too subtle to delightful heights. Speaking on the song, she shares, “‘Wide Awake’ is my love letter to us in the future. It can be lonely at times, to be a dreamer, striving in solitude. That’s when we dive into our imaginations to find strength and sanity. This song is my hope that someday, they will no longer be mere daydreams, but something real; something we can experience wide awake.
