MYSIE digs deep into her feelings on “Bones”

Last we heard from South London’s emergent pop-soul star MYSIE was back in June, when she released “Gift”, which was just before she was revealed as one of the nominees in the Ivor Novello Awards’ new Rising Star Award. The winner will be announced this coming week, but ahead of that she is continuing on her rise as she shares a new song called “Bones”.

MYSIE has revealed that “Bones” is “about going within, and what your gut has to offer.”Her dramatic voice is perfect for this kind of soul-searching, as she can cruise in her lower register through the contemplative verses, then swerve upwards into a tripping melody for the pressurised chorus: “the clock’s ticking in my mind.” The production is stylish, using a meaty low end and intelligent rhythm, but never so flashy as to distract from MYSIE’s central presence – here the spotlight is firmly on MYSIE’s voice and her feelings, and she’s truly shining.

Watch the video by Duran Abdullah below or listen to “Bones” on your preferred streaming platform.

MYSIE is being mentored by Grammy Award winning producer and songwriter Fraser T. Smith [Stormzy, Dave, Adele], so we can expect more greatness from her in the near future. Before that, keep up with her on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
