The breakout female stars of 2024 were Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. I predict that UK artist Mimi Webb will enjoy that same type of success in 2025. Her latest single “One Eye Open” features a towering mega-chorus and brilliant vocals – and she has the wind at her back after recent performances at Lollapalooza and opening for The Jonas Brothers across Europe.
Everything seems to be lining up nicely for Webb, who’s working with top producers like Nick Hahn and Ryan Tedder (Adele, Beyonce, Taylor Swift). Mimi will soon be the biggest sensation from Canterbury since Becket became archbishop.
Reflecting on the new track, Mimi says: “This song represents the transition into my independent, self-love era and serves as a reminder to look after my own happiness above anything else. It came from learning from my past mistakes and from getting hurt, so I wrote it as a warning to protect myself and always keep one eye open.”
Webb’s 2023 album Amelia offered ample proof that she’s on the doorstep of pop greatness. That opus featured “Remind You”, another song with an irresistibly volcanic chorus. Get ready for the next round of hooky Canterbury tales from this amazing artist.
