Weezer recently covered Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android,” quite successfully if we may say so, but whereas that was for fun, this one’s all business, with the band’s cover of “You Might Think” set to appear on the soundtrack for Pixar’s Cars 2. I find it interesting that they’re covering The Cars for Cars 2; it makes me think that Pixar origianlly wanted to get The Cars for the soundtrack, but they weren’t willing or weren’t available, so they got the next all-fun band for hire: Weezer. That’s probably not true though.
Whatever the story, the fact is that Weezer have made a tight and polished track here that I can already picture soundtracking a montage in the upcoming movie. The movie comes out on June 24th, but the soundtrack will be available on the 14th. Listen to Weezer’s contribution below.
