Kaput examines the weight of external expectations on “Sucker”

Chicago no wave, noise duo Kaput — comprised of Nadia Garofalo (formerly of Ganser), producer Brian Fox, and featuring M. Sord (of Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers) on drums — has just released a new single called “Sucker”. It’s a corrugated, angular anthem, one that affixes an importance to individuality and obliterates the confines of traditional musical structures through waves of fuzz and astringent guitar lines. Garofalo’s voice is sulphuric acid, eating away the impurities that seem to surround her at any given moment. Distortion is offered in tectonic amplitude, rending the landscape asunder and leaving nothing in its wake. It comes crashing like a boulder through the walls of your subconscious, crushing all resistance and setting up permanent residence.
