Jessica Pratt sings in watercolors on “Life Is”, announces new album

Jessica Pratt will release a new album called Here In The Pitch on 3 May through City Slang/Mexican Summer. Along with the announcement, she has shared the opening track, “Life Is”, saying:

“In a way, it’s kind of a false flag, but I also feel like it’s a statement of intention.”

“Life Is” finds Pratt’s signature guitar and voice bolstered by a classic pop beat and a wreath of violins. With her characterful vocal echo double tracked beautifully, her mataphysical musings take on a new depth; “life is / it’s never what you think it’s for”. This may seem a frivolous comment, but unwind a little, you’ll find it easy to relax into the song and the meaning arising from within. Pratt sings wistfully of escape, of longing to be swept up by life and carried into each new day with wonder and potential; “It’s the age of what’s to come and baby you’re on. “Life Is” sounds like the sun’s warm rays caressing and encouraging her on into this psychedelic life of treasures.
