Grafh prepares project celebrating – and produced by – the late DJ Shay, shares “Valid” feat. Sheek Louch and Ransom

DJ Shay’s tragic passing from COVID-related complications last year shook the Buffalo hip hop scene to its core. An absolutely key figure in the rise of Griselda, he believed in, and championed, their movement before anyone was listening or supporting. His death saw numerous tributes from those in and associated with Griselda, and, now, we’re lucky enough to be receiving what may well be his final full statement.

Grafh’s Stop Calling Art Content was entirely produced by Shay, and fully completed prior to his passing. Presented by Grafh and Benny the Butcher, releasing through the latter artist’s Black Soprano Family imprint, the project was saved until just the right moment to celebrate the Buffalo icon.

Today, they share the project’s second single, “Valid”, featuring Sheek Louch and Ransom. Shay is entirely in his zone for the track, presenting a beat instantly both hostile and foggily psychedelic, sounding as if it zoned in from some bizarro Western film. All three rappers, for their part, absolutely sink their teeth into the meaty production.

Stop Calling Art Content is due in full come October 15th, and also boasts features from Benny, Bun B, CyHi The Prynce, Styles P, Ricky Hyde, Heem, ElCamino, and 3D Na’Tee.

In the meantime, check out “Valid” below.
