Circuit Des Yeux shares a vivid psychodrama in “Vanishing”

We’re now less than a month our from -io, the new album from Circuit Des Yeux. So far we’ve heard “Dogma” and “Sculpting The Void”, and today she unleashes “Vanishing”. By way of introduction, she offers:

Ensure you prepare yourself for “Vanishing”. A song that bounds on dramatic strings and a bouncing beat, it gives ample space for CDY’s powerful voice to cut and roll through the sonic gamut. In doing so, she sucks us into a world of worries and pressures, sounding as if she’s tumbling through life, being buffeted by all sides by worries about the not-so-distant future. We may all feel like this at times, but I doubt any of us has channeled it into something so hair-raising.

The video for “Vanishing” takes the drama up some more notches. She says about it:

Vanishing is an account of climate change and loss through the final stage of grief.
 
In this video I embody our evolving consciousness toward Earth and its health by representing four characters.
 
Lemonade Lady is the evasive optimist who is unwilling to acknowledge her changing surroundings.
 
Prepared Weather Person is the anxious prepper; ready for the worst and isolated by fear.
 
The Mortal Sufferer gets blown away in a field and serves as evidence that us corporeal beings are at the behest of our environment.
 
And Worm Girl personifies the stoic reality that all things human undoubtedly decompose in time.

Circuit Des Yeux’s new album -io comes out on October 22 through Matador (pre-order/save). She’s also added European tour dates, including a special night in London where she’ll be joined by a string quintet from the London Contemporary Orchestra. Her full dates are:
