White Denim, one of the most consistently impressive bands of the past few years, just released a mixtape of some of their major influences and favorite cuts. No surprise to find plenty of older (read: classic) country rock and folk on the mix, as White Denim’s hybrid-style rock ‘n roll draws from plenty of sources. EmmyLou Harris, Hank Williams Jr., Little Feat, and Lee Hazlewood immediately jump off the tracklist, but there are plenty of jams on here which are new to me that I’m enjoying. A perfect Spring mix if I’ve ever heard one. [via]
