We’re saddened to add to the news you’ve likely already heard: Harold Budd has passed.
Certainly best known for his work alongside Brian Eno, including Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror and (absoulte gem) The Pearl, the man was a master in his own right, releasing numerous albums in his lifetime, including a lengthy, fruitful creative relationship with Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins.
Beyond The Pavilion of Dreams (also produced by Eno), which tends to get the most attention of his solo work, we’ve collected a few of his less heard albums (in no specific order) to peruse and enjoy as the ambient community absorbs this monumental loss:
The Room
The White Arcades
Avalon Sutra / As Long As I Can Hold My Breath
Lovely Thunder
Sail on, you master. Thank you for the measure of peace you offered this world.
Harold Budd
