Jake Scott tabbed to direct Jeff Buckley biopic

Jeff Buckley

The long-anticipated biopic of the life of Jeff Buckley, the now-legendary musician who drowned mysteriously in Memphis’ Wolf River Harbor in 1997, now has its director in place.

Jake Scott, the son of Ridley Scott, will head the project. Though a cast has yet to be announced — even in light of many, many rumors of who might land the role of Buckley (James Franco? Robert Pattinson?) — the film is expected to begin filming sometime this fall.

Below is Buckley’s performance of “Lover, You Should Have Come Over”, from a performance recorded in 1995 and later released as a DVD called Live in Chicago.
