LA five-member band Roses And Roses are a much mellower ride than Guns N’ Roses. The group is fronted by vocalist/songwriter Crystal Speros, who brings a 70s-style charm to the new single “Losing It”. The rich harmonies on the band’s new EP Touching The Sun are reminiscent of Linda Ronstadt and the brief-yet-memorable career of Nicolette Larson.
Says Speros: “In ‘Losing It’, I realize that my sense of self has been clouded by pressures I take on to live up to society’s grind – an attempt at climbing an impossibly tall ladder.
“Every day is an effort to break ladders and instead find pathways.”
The new EP is a “coming home” story because the group consists mainly of native southern Californians who relocated to Brooklyn before returning to the Golden State last year. One spin of this EP is like taking a journey back in time to the days when Glenn Frey and Don Henley were in Linda Ronstadt’s touring band. Touching The Sun proves that laidback music can still offer powerful insights.
