Promising Atlanta rapper Grip reveals signing to Shady Records, releases new single “Gutter”

You could be forgiven if you’d never heard of Grip. However, that’s about to change in a big way. The promising Atlanta artist has just revealed his signing with Eminem’s Shady Records.

For those unfamiliar with the young artist, his 2019 album, Snubnose, was among that year’s most underrated, underheard hip hop projects, with Grip presenting a style that was Kendrick Lamar meets Goodie Mob: pure conscious Southern flavor meets a sensibility ready-made for rap’s current climate.

To mark the occasion, he posted a picture with new boss Eminem (above), and released his first single for Shady Records, the eerie, brutally honest “Gutter”, featuring Wara.

For his part, Marshall Mathers has been selective with his signings in recent years, linking up with celebrated artists such as Westside Boogie and Griselda, with albums on the way from both Boogie and Conway the Machine for the label.

Check the single out below or on your preferred streamer, and stay tuned for Grip’s major label debut album soon.
