Primavera Sound 2012 adds Wilco, SBTRKT, Archers of Loaf, Washed Out and more

After the initial Primavera Sound 2012 lineup announcement of Bjork, Jeff Mangum and Yo La Tengo a few weeks ago, the promoters could have taken it easy and felt pretty sure that they would be on track to sell a decent amount of tickets with just those names revealed, but rather than do that they’ve doubled the heftiness of the bill.

Wilco are the biggest name of the new additions. The beloved and admired Chicago band will be making their trip back over to Europe for further promotion of their newest album The Whole Love, but anyone who has seen them on this tour can tell you that they’re playing an amazing and varied setlist every night.

New Yorkers The Drums will make it over in support of their second album Portamento, and I can already tell that their surf pop will go down a treat on the Barcelona coast. Veronica Falls are also likely to get the crowd bobbing with their twee pop sound. For a more relaxed set, Josh T. Pearson will be on hand. His album Last of the Country Gentlemen was just announced as Rough Trade’s album of the year.

In terms of legendary acts making appearances at this festival this year, how does Archers of Loaf, Shellac, Mudhoney, Olivia Tremor Control and Godflesh sound? Sounds pretty fucking awesome to us.

Primavera Sound goes on all night, so it’s certainly not all about indie rock, as they get some of the world’s best electronic acts to keep the party going. The additions of SBTRKT, Washed Out and Death in Vegas Should do this very nicely.

The festival takes place from May 30th to June 3rd 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. For a full list of the lineup, look below, but you can expect that lineup to be quadrupled before they’re done.
