Polish-American rapper Berry Galazka pulls no punches on her fiery debut single “Man Can’t Hang”

Berry Galazka is an emerging artist who grew up in Florida – but in a Polish household – and now lives in London. This has given her an interesting cross section of influences, which she outlines by saying: “While I do love polka and am still trying to find a way to work it into my music… Growing up in Florida definitely influenced my love for what I call, `’White Man Reggae” i.e.: SOJA, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Iration… that shit makes me sooo happy. Obvi love Bob Marley, Eek-A-Mouse, Yellowman, Peter Tosh and the reggae Gods.”

Today she releases her debut single “Man Can’t Hang”, where she leaves both polka and reggae to the side and instead goes straight for the jugular with an imposing rap banger. On the song’s subject, she says:

[It’s] about how easily men’s egos are triggered by women who do better, make more, talk smarter than them and are not afraid to call them out.”

Galazka’s fearlessness is on display from the first moments of “Man Can’t Hang”, as she introduces herself with some rapid-fire bars about her past, before bringing things thundering into the present by describing the woman she is now: “I don’t want a husband / I don’t want kids / I’d take a jack rabbit and a bottle of gin.” From there she only grows more confident, declaring herself a promiscuous stallion, deterring any labels that people try to put on her, and warning of her big and braggadocios mouth. She comes to the crux of “Man Can’t Hang” in the earworm chorus, where she observes men who act tough but are insecure around powerful women, and flicks them away like a fly. It’s a stunning and superb introduction from Berry Galazka, and we’re hooked for whatever comes next.
