Poise casts negativity aside with the punchy “Walk Through Fire”, announces debut album

Poise, aka NY-based singer-songwriter Lucie Murphy, has announced that her debut album is called Vestiges and will come out on July 30. She’s also shared a single from the project called “Walk Through Fire”, saying:

“After a difficult year of losing my father, the cancellation of my new band’s first tour and the beginnings of a devastating pandemic, I wrote this song. “Walked Through Fire” is about weathering the storm and coming back stronger. It’s about appreciating what you have and making it work for you. It’s about striving for a life full of adventure and curiosity. It’s about proving yourself to those around you, and gaining confidence in the process. I wrote “Walked Through Fire” to alleviate my self-doubt. It serves me as a musical psych-up in the mirror.”

We’ve all been through a strange year, but it’s probably few of us who come out of it sounding as cool and confident as Poise does on “Walk Through Fire”. She begins with the seductive affirmation “make no mistake baby I’m the one you wanna be around”, before the song explodes into life, her crunchy guitar and synth highlighting her proclamation “I’m gonna show you what I can do” with blinding brightness. It’s only 90 seconds long, but “Walk Through Fire” is an unflinching statement of purpose from Poise, daring us to get excited about what else she has in store on Vestiges.
