Ora Violet take a swipe at brainless world leaders with muscular garage-psych on “Creep Negativo” (BPM Premiere)

Londoners Ora Violet announced themselves with their debut single “Honey, You Did It” toward the end of last year, and the band’s kept their output relatively frequent since, slipping out two singles this year. If you’re just joining them ahead of the release of another new track, then welcome on board, they’re delighted to have you. A trio at its core, composed of multi-instrumentalist production duo Black Tiles and guitarist Nick Ferman, their lineup is completed on their latest offering by vocalist Jeet Mulkerj and bassist James Meynell.

“Creep Negativo” – premiering on Beats Per Minute ahead of its release tomorrow – crackles with energy and bruising riffs as Mulkerj’s breathless vocals are swept along by a busy rhythm section, building to an intense peak with unexpected shifts into double time, by way of a pounding, cowbell-assisted chorus. It’s got an undeniable swagger to it, which suits its brash lyrical perspective to a tee – a Brexiteer-baiting imagined conversation between Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage about Donald Trump.

Per the band: “With the US elections looming and the press dominated by Trump’s daily scandals and missteps, Creep Negativo was inspired by the insane idea that our world leaders can be pussy grabbing, perma tanned epitomes of evil.” Tune in below:
