It’s rare to find a young talent with the vocal skills of Ariana Grande and the compositional brilliance of Elton John, but that’s a great description of 23-year-old Czech artist NIKA (Veronika Boráková). Her new album Elsewhere abounds with soaring vocals and captivating melodies, including “Dancing With The Ghost Of You”.
NIKA’s music is a deft blend of classical, jazz and pop influences. She’s been a featured act at the prestigious Paris-Prague jazz club in the City of Light.
NIKA tersely describes the song as “about healing after the loss of a loved one,” which could be either a family member or a lover. Either way, the music lets you know that the void is incredibly painful.
In addition to her music career, NIKA is also an actress/singer with the Moravian-Silesian National Theater. With her talent, it wouldn’t surprise me to see her in a West End musical while simultaneously enjoying chart success all over the world.
